About Foxy Foodie

Welcome! I started this blog a few years ago when I realized that I love writing and I love good food and realized that maybe I should combine the two. While I chose not to follow a career in the food industry, I knew I had to make food a more prominent feature in my life. From a young age I enjoyed good food. By age ten, I was eating Stilton, chilled cherry soups, pungent imported cheese, and sneaking into the kitchen to cook even though I was not allowed to use the stove because I was too young. I eschewed things like Velveeta and boxed mac and cheese mix. I made a very difficult overnight guest unless I was staying in my best friend’s house at the time, who was French.

Things you will find in this blog:

  • My restaurant “reviews” where I pretend to be a food critic.
  • Recipes, either my own or somebody else’s.
  • Me ranting about restaurants or foods I hate.
  • My recipes where I take traditional recipes and make them healthier and less fattening WITHOUT compromising food or nutrients. After all, we are foodies and we never compromise flavor.
  • Topics that don’t involve restaurants or cooking but relate to food on some level.

Things I love:

  • Weird and exotic food. The stranger it sounds, the more likely I am to order it.
  • Anchovies and sardines.
  • Pungent blue cheese.
  • Grilled octopus
  • Ethnic food
  • Brie
  • Good cheese
  • Wine
  • Raw oysters
  • Dark chocolate
  • Gumbo
  • Seafood
  • Good, strong coffee.
  • Good beer, especially Hobgoblin.
  • Making gumbo from scratch.
  • Arugula.
  • All things truffle.
  • Goat cheese.
  • Sushi.

And the picture at the top? That was a picture that my husband took on one of our many food adventures in Santorini, Greece.

Enjoy!!
